"Be Still and Know that I am God"
A warm welcome from the Northern Virginia Chapter of Contemplative Outreach (“CONOVA”)!
We are an ecumenical group of women and men volunteers serving those who want to deepen their relationship with God through the practice of Centering Prayer. People of all faiths, religions, races, ethnicities, or sexual orientations are welcome to our Centering Prayer retreats and activities.
Centering Prayer is a receptive method of Christian silent prayer which deepens our relationship with God, the Indwelling Presence … a prayer in which we open ourselves to God’s presence within us, closer than breathing, closer than thinking, closer than consciousness itself. Learn more here.
CONOVA is one of more than 90 active chapters in 39 countries formed by Contemplative Outreach Ltd. (COL), an international interdenominational group of individuals and groups that are committed to living the contemplative dimension of everyday life.
Fr. Thomas Keating was a founding member and spiritual leader for COL. Click here for more about COL's vision and history.
CONOVA’s mission is to help build and support a vibrant contemplative community centered in Northern Virginia - through teaching the practice of Centering Prayer, helping to establish and support local centering prayer groups, and organizing centrally-located (and online) events designed to enhance the contemplative spiritual journey.
We welcome you, and invite you to explore the links below, and to join us in the journey. Blessings to you.
