The upcoming presidential election has stoked anxieties and fears over the state of the country and the world.

Loneliness, despair, and cynicism abound. People do not trust institutions like the church or the government anymore.

How do we live our Gospel faith amidst such trying times?

The biblical books of Lamentations, Job, and Ecclesiastes along with mystics like Elizabeth of the Trinity, John of the Cross, Julian of Norwich, Angela of Foligno, and Angelus Silesius offer us a realistic and mystical approach to living with faith amidst a collapsing world.
